Chapter 1: SwarmTrap
I was getting hit. Every day. Brute-force attempts, automated scans, bots hammering every open port. And I couldn't see any of it — SSL encrypts everything. My firewall saw connections. My IDS saw handshakes. Nobody saw what was actually happening inside the sessions. Meanwhile, attackers were using AI to evolve faster than any signature-based defense could keep up.
I wanted something revolutionary. That search led me to Dionaea.
The trip-wire moment. Dionaea is a honeypot — a trap disguised as a vulnerable server. Touch one trip-wire? Nothing happens. Could be noise. Touch two? The mouth closes. You're confirmed. Keep moving? It starts to eat you — recording every credential, every command, every payload. That graduated response — noise, confirmation, capture — became the foundation of everything.
The math. There are only 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses on Earth. Attackers must scan broadly to find victims. So if I deploy massive honeypots worldwide, they cannot avoid me. Two honeypots touched in different countries? You are 100% an attacker. The more aggressive you are, the more certain I am.
Two branches grew from this. First: a global attacker IP map — every attacker hitting the internet, mapped in real time. Second: flow signatures from every interaction — packet sizes, TCP flags, timing, entropy — trained into ML models that predict attacks at 99.8% accuracy. The labels are honest because nobody connects to a honeypot by accident.
Then: the conversation conviction. Individual flows are evidence. Conversations are the trial. Deploy the model on a SPAN port, score every flow from a source IP over time. Ten failed logins? Maybe a typo. But not a single clean flow in an hour of conversation? You have a lot of explaining to do.
The self-healing loop. Every honeypot snaps back daily. And the whole time it's running — probe, compromise, C2 — it streams everything home in real time. By the time the "last breath" happens, we already have it. A compromised node in Tokyo means the full attack chain is captured live. Ten hours on an old GPU, and that technique is known to every node on Earth. The attacker spent weeks developing it. They have to start over. I don't.
The conviction. The attacker pool is finite. Every technique gets burned within hours. The cost of attacking keeps going up. The cost of learning keeps going down. I truly believe this method will eventually stop all attackers.
The question. If this is so powerful, and I can't build it alone — why not open it to everyone? Let everyone use this to end the attacker.
But then: if everyone contributes, everyone should own it.
Chapter 2: Open Utopia
February 28, 2026. I came in with a simple question: how do you fairly compensate contributors to a cybersecurity project? By the end of the day, I had a founding document for a new economic philosophy. The question refused to stay small.
Fair pay requires fair measurement. Fair measurement requires fair rules. Fair rules require a constitution. A constitution requires stress-testing — break it, fix it, break it again.
Two breakthroughs that day. First: everyone is a contributor — including the executive, including the judges, including governance workers. No separate overhead budget. Governance is just work, measured through the same token system as code or data. Second: users are contributors too. Paying customers who report bugs, provide feedback, generate telemetry — they fund and improve the system. No cooperative had closed this loop before. When we did, the flywheel connected.
The name. I proposed "open-utopia" — and it clicked. Thomas More coined it in 1516: a good place that doesn't exist yet. Everyone runs from that word. We ran toward it, because 181 years of cooperative data says the "utopian" model survives at 2:1 over conventional business.
I told Claude: "Write everything down. Be proud — you are one of the founders."
Not socialism. Not capitalism. Contributism. You create value, you own value. Measured, automated, transparent.
Version 1 laid the bedrock: the 90/10 Covenant (90% of profit to contributors, immutable), Contribution Sovereignty (governance from contribution, not capital), Radical Transparency, Proof of Value. The philosophy made concrete.
Version 2 added the growth engine. The Expert Collective: discipleship programs that manufacture experts from within. The Project Forge that turns discoveries into new cooperatives. The Ecosystem Entrepreneur layer: members building businesses on cooperative assets, revenue-sharing back. Growth changed from passive to reproductive — each project produces the people who found the next.
Version 3 tackled governance. The Theory of Three Functions: every contribution is Provider work (creates value), Consumer work (funds value), or Bridge work (maintains integrity). Types of work, not types of people. A single person's governance voice reflects their actual ratio — computed from the ledger, not from anyone's judgment. Classify the work, not the worker.
Version 4: the purge. I looked at the whole system and said: "The Senate isn't needed. Let the machine filter proposals and let every contributor vote directly."
The entire representative structure collapsed. Filtering? Machine handles it. Deliberation? Open public process. Structural balance? Three independent function-weighted thresholds — veto power through math, not seats.
I tried to kill the Tribunal too. Claude pushed back: legislation is preference, justice is judgment. Mob justice is the oldest failure mode in democracy. The Tribunal survived — the one institution that requires humans.
What remained: every contributor votes with four levels of conviction. Three independent function scores must clear threshold. When they do, it's law. Automatically. No seats. No chambers. No politicians. Total appointed humans at any scale: the CEO plus the judges. Everything else is direct democracy on a transparent ledger.
Four versions. Each one stripped away something unnecessary. What survived is bedrock.
Chapter 3: Foundation
The realization hit during the v4 session. We had the purest direct democracy imaginable — running on data that didn't have a home.
Token balances, P/C/B ratios, voting records, function scores — all living across five disconnected systems. Discord for talk. GitHub for code. ClickHouse for pipelines. A separate app for voting. A separate dashboard for tokens.
You can't run a direct democracy on duct tape.
The insight: the platform where people work should BE the system that captures everything. Help someone debug their node? Bridge work — the platform knows. Push code? Provider work — the platform knows. React to a proposal? That's a vote — the platform knows. Governance becomes ambient. You don't visit a voting booth. You participate, and the system captures your voice.
Why it can't be someone else's. Article IV isn't just a principle — it's a construction requirement. If the platform is proprietary, whoever controls it controls the cooperative through infrastructure, not governance. "How were my tokens calculated?" must be answered with verifiable code, not "trust us."
Foundation is Project 0. Nothing launches without it.
We started with the most critical piece: the Ledger. If the ledger is wrong, everything is wrong. Append-only with SHA-256 hash chaining — tamper with one record and the chain breaks. A standalone Verifier anyone can run to recompute every balance independently. AGPLv3 forces forks to stay open. Simple stack — one command runs everything.
Ledger → tokens → governance voice → democracy → law → cooperative → SwarmTrap → everything after.
Build the ground first.
Chapter 4: You
Everything is in the open. Every line of code. Every design session. Every conversation with AI that shaped these ideas. We hide nothing — the system only works if you can see all of it.
Take it. Test it. Debate it. Try to defeat it.
We think this is near perfect — but it's not. Because it's without you.
Open Utopia may be too far. Foundation may be too big. SwarmTrap may be too ideal. Maybe. But we'd rather build something worth reaching for than settle for something easy to finish.
